Dear Friends of the P.R.A.Y. mission,
On behalf of all the children who have benefited from your caring and generosity, I would like to say thank you from the
bottom of my heart, and may God bless you in double for all that you do.
The P.R.A.Y. mission in Jacunda, Para, Brazil, currently has two buildings on the property. A shelter for children
who are orphaned, abused, or abandoned, with a capacity to house up to 25 children, and a building that is used for a medical
clinic, office, library, sleeping areas for volunteers, and classrooms. This second building was built according to
the legal requirements and specifications for a medical clinic. Due to the slow start of the clinic, we took advantage
of the unused space for our other needs.
I am happy to report that the medical clinic is now active with a Brazilian Doctor, nurse and receptionist Monday thru
Friday, thanks to the help of the Mayor of Jacunda. We are looking forward to having volunteer Doctors and nurses from
the United States who will occasionally make short-term mission trips to help out.
The clinic is quickly taking up more space, which is displacing the classrooms, office, and sleeping areas for volunteers.
Also, we have received donations for the purchase of sewing machines to begin a teaching and clothing manufacturing project.
We do have sufficient land to build, and would like to construct a building as soon as possible to take care of those needs.
Any help that you can give us towards this goal would be a blessing.
I am so happy that our mission exists to offer a home for the children who need us. The last time I was at the mission
the local Judge in Jacunda personally delivered a child to us. She expressed her thanks and gratefulness for the P.R.A.Y.
mission, because without it there would have been no place for the little girl she delivered into our hands.
I tell the children many times that there are people far away in my country who love them. That is really amazing
to them. One time when there was an American volunteer at the mission, one of the children came to me and asked, "do
all of the people in your country have such good hearts?" I answered him that, no, not all of the people in my country
have good hearts, but many do, and all of the ones who help with the P.R.A.Y. mission do.
The children pray often for all of the people in the United States who help the P.R.A.Y. mission. The prayers of
a child are innocent, honest, and sincere, and I believe that their prayers go directly to God's Heart.
God bless you,
Sally Savery
